The next work morning at the Reston Library will be Monday, April 22. Contact Julie B. to sign-up. Click HERE to check our Calendar Page listing for details. Our next general meeting will be May 7 at the Nature House when we will have our annual members plant sale.

The Reston Garden Club has been an active part of the Reston community, since its organization in 1970. It is celebrating its 40th birthday this year and is featured in a special article in the 2010 Summer Edition of the Reston magazine. Click on the sunflower to read the article.

Programs and projects of the club are designed to encourage interest in home gardening, better horticultural practices, flower arranging, civic beautification and the conservation of native plants and wildlife. Membership is open to all interested residents of Reston and surrounding communities, whether they are novices or experts. Please visit our membership page for details on how to join.

Members enjoy monthly programs with speakers and demonstrations. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month from September through June at 1:00 pm. Please see our Calendar page for a complete listing of dates, locations and programs. In addition, special events such as bus trips to gardens and shows are planned throughout the year. Our newsletter, "Weeder's Digest", is published monthly with horticultural information, club news, and opportunities for community service.

Club contributions to Reston have included thousands of bulbs, hundreds of trees and other memorial plantings, nature camp scholarships, “Adopt-A-Highway” maintenance of the Bowman Towne Drive area, and co-sponsorship of Reston Garden Tours. Fund raising activities have included an annual Holiday Greens Sale, the sale of gardening items, and the publication of our wonderful cookbook. In June 2006 we held our second garden tour. It was a huge success, much enjoyed by everyone, and we were able to donate $3,500 in proceeds to Nature House.

Reston Garden Club won a Best of Reston 2008 award for its work in support of the Walker Nature Education Center and civic beautification, including the planting of hundreds of trees and flowers throughout the community. This Reston Interfaith and Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce award honors businesses, organizations and individuals who have shown a commitment to community service in the local area.
